Alright... I'm about to embark on a bunch of firsts for myself: 1. This is my first blog and 2. this is the first time that I am building a hot rod from the ground up.
So, I've been looking for a car suitable to hot rod for many years and just happened to stumble upon a 1922 Dodge Coupe. It had been previously built up by someone else in the GTA and the previous owner apparently tried to outrun the cops and wrapped it into a bunch of rocks of the road.
When I got a hold of the car from the guy who salvaged the car, I knew that it needed a lot of work to try and straighten it out. But I had bigger plans for it and wasn't too concerned about the mangled frame. The bits and pieces that interested me were in good enough shape (especially since they were 89 years old). I fully planned on building a new frame from scratch and modifying the body.
The engine in the car was a 350cid Chevy and the block was broken in 2 places. The transmission was a C4 and broken in 3 places. This guy hit these rocks hard. I don't know the guy but rumour has it he is living a very simple and meek life since the accident.
Anyway, I will be posting pics of the tear down and rebuild as things happen. This blog is intended to catalogue the build along the way. All questions and comments are more than welcome.
Jim
